Welcome and THANK YOU for

Kano Plains Development Alliance (KAPDA) is a non-governmental
organisation (NGO), registered under what was formerly the Ministry of Gender,
Sports, Culture and Social Services. The organisation is located at Kadibo
Divisional Headquarters in Kisumu East District, and serves the entire KANO
PLAINS REGION from the Okana Village & the surrounding communities in Okana
Sub-Location, Kadibo Division, Kisumu-East District, Nyando Constituency of
Kisumu County. Major
towns and large shopping centers under our jurisdiction include Sondu, Katito,
Kindu Bay, Pap Onditi, Muhoroni, Chemelil, Awasi, Ngere, Boya, Ahero, Korowe,
Number Okana, Masogo, Rabuor, Nduru, Chiga, Nyamasaria, Dunga and Kisumu, among
others.
KAPDA was started with the aim of
participating in the fight against HIV/AIDs; poverty alleviation through promotion of micro-enterprises; environmental conservation; sustainable agriculture and assistance to orphans and vulnerable
children (OVC).
We are non-profit-making volunteers who work with and for
the general community and particularly special persons like the Orphans and
Vulnerable Children (OVCs), the aged, widows, women, the physically challenged,
delinquents and all others at risk.
We also deal with youth groups and women groups in the
entire Kano Plains area, extending from the Winam Gulf towards the highlands of
South Nyanza. This region covers the Muhoroni-Chemelil sugar belt, the Ahero
rice fields, the Nduru/ West Kano wetlands, the Nyakach Plains, the banks and
areas occasionally flooded by the River Nyando in its entirety, the Dunga beach
and a lengthy shoreline of the Lake Victoria.
Among many other
things, we engage in the following:
Education
-
We encourage and support education
of persons within and without the larger Kano Plains area. We partner with
schools, pay visits to learning institutions, fund some extra-curricular
activities and offer sponsorship/scholarships to needy learners where possible.
We encourage competition and excellence among students/pupils of various
schools.
Health
-
We are keen on environmental
management, sanitation and preventive measures that put at bay cases of illnesses.
We partner with other stakeholders to procure basic medications like malaria
drugs, medications for skin diseases and painkillers.
Our other projects
include:
Fish Farming
Bee Keeping
Poultry Farming
Flood Control
Among other partners, we work very closely with the
following:
1. Kisumu County Government
2.
